On the trail of a whale
The Southern coast is famous for its whale trails. Around July-October it is possible to see them rather close to the coast. The best place to watch them is Hermanus.
This time we were not lucky enough to meet Mr Whale or other members of the family. Although, some penguins were enjoying their lunch nap.
Even more, we had a great shokolaadikook in a restaurant where all communication went over the phone.

Joonase tuba on samasugune, kui lisada ainult 10x igasuguseid mänguasju, kaisuloomasid, lasteraamatuid ja joonistusi koolist. Täna oli see puhta sassis ja sassis toast ta ei lubanud pilti teha. Lubas varsti ilusti korda teha.

From Cape Town, it is a very nice day trip to the Cape of Good Hope the southwesternmost point of Africa. Along the road we met penguins, baboons and bonteboks. It was a very windy day.

Lizard. Cute. Rather harmless and amusing piece of nature.
Lives: Rocks. Holes. Dusty gravel roads. Enjoys the sun and good views.
Eats: Pudru. Tsokoladikook. Tee. 8 (eight) muffins a day!

Joonas school
Jan van Riebeek School. Umbes 2 km ja 15-30 min jalutuskäigu kaugusel. Kool asub mäe otsas, seega kodust-kooli jalutame 30 min ülesmäge, koolist-koju jällegi 10 min mäest alla.
Kool algab kl 8 ja kestab kuni 5ni õhtul. Hommikust lõunani on nn tunnid, siis väike uinak ja pärast igasugused õuemängud.
Jan van Riebeek school is the place where Joonas spends most of the time during working days. It is rather close to our home, some 15 min walking up to the mountain and the way home is a bit shorter, just some couple of minutes downhill.

He is enjoying this school a lot. Playing all day with his best friends Karola, Mattias. George, Ethan and Eden.
Koolis peab olema täpselt õpetaja kella järgi ja ei minutitki hiljem, muidu saame õpetaja Mamuna käest pahandada (alguses kutsus Joonas teda Mamaluuaks).
Park and Beach
Jurgens Park is just a short walk away from our flat. Joonas likes the company of the other children. The dogs, however, are a bit threatening sometimes.
The biggest playground is on the beach. It is almost the best place to spend a lazy sunday afternoon; Triin reading Bitches Brew by Fred Kumalo, Joonas trying to dig a secret tunnel to Tutermaa or Vihterpalu. Nick is cycling (wearing funny cycling costume btw :)). Cooking delicious sand cakes is also an option.

Most of the black immigrants from the Eastern Cape end up in the townships in the east of the city. They survive from day to day, in a 11 m² government house or a metal and plastic shack. Most of the whites still live in the north and the west of the city. They survive from one month to the other in a brick house with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a wendy house for the maids and gardeners. A 500 meter buffer zone, a wall or a train track seperates the two worls. Nowhere in the world, the gap between rich and poor is as narrow as it is in South Africa.

Kaapstad is altijd al een gesegregeerde stad geweest. Vijftien jaar ANC hebben daar weinig of niets aan kunnen veranderen. De meeste zwarte immigranten uit de Oost-Kaap stranden nog steeds in de townships in het oosten van de stad. Overleven doen ze van dag op dag, in een sociale woning van elf vierkante meter of een shack van metalen platen en wat plastic. De meeste blanken leven nog steeds in het noorden en het westen van de stad. Overleven doen ze van maand op maand, in een bakstenen huis met drie slaapkamers, twee badkamers en een tuinhuisje voor de zwarte bedienden. Een bufferstrook van 500m, een hek of een treinspoor scheidt de twee werelden. Nergens is de kloof tussen rijk en arm zo klein als in Zuid-Afrika.
